In 2016, we were blessed to find ourselves in a position to purchase a home on a beautiful little lake in upstate NY late in the summer.  With no boat and a 40' dock, my wife told me she wanted to go for a swim but could not do so with the massive amount of weeds on all sides.  It was then that I set out to purchase a device to solve the problem.  I looked into a few sites that sold products that would cut or rake weeds from the water.  I landed on a particular product that would allow me to throw the device and pull it back in while cutting the weeds along the way.

I was talking to a neighbor later that day about the path that I had chosen and he politely asked me not to make that purchase.  I was shocked and told him that I would certainly share my soon-to-be acquired weed control device.  He explained how the weeds would be cut, float down to his dock, and potentially even replant.  He also mentioned how quickly weeds grow on a sunny day and that I would be performing this task many times throughout the season.  Armed with this new information, I set out to come up with a better "mousetrap" to solve our problem.  

With that, I designed the 1.0 version of the Lake Weed Reaper (but we usually just call it the Weed Reaper).  I ran to the local hardware store and purchased all of the parts needed.  With a hacksaw, pliers, wrenches, and a little determination I was able to forge the first of its kind.  It was crude and rough but it did the job.  In 2024, we made the decision to create the 2.0 version of the Weed Reaper and provide the best solution we found to others dealing with the same problem.  We know you will find the value you are looking for with the Weed Reaper!
